Jenna Bishop is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Christian Counselor located in Plano, Texas. She received her BA in Psychology from the University of Arkansas, and later continued her education at University of Texas at Arlington to obtain a Masters in Social Work. While working on her Masters, Jenna spent time gaining experience in the field by working with an Irving based pregnant teen program, and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Jenna also had the opportunity to volunteer her time with New Friends New Life, which restores and empowers formerly trafficked girls and sexually exploited women, and their children. Since that time, Jenna has gained a wealth of experience as a counselor by working with women in several different settings.
Jenna began working full time in the inpatient psychiatric setting shortly after being fully licensed as a masters level social worker. Jenna also spent several years working in the field of hospice. Jenna has supported and counseled many families during their loved one’s dying process. Having the opportunity to support individuals and families during this intimate time has shaped who Jenna is as a person and a counselor.
Jenna obtained her Licensed Clinical Social Work degree in 2014, giving her the opportunity to fulfill her long time dream of opening Bishop’s Counseling for Women. In 2015, Jenna became a Certified Christian Therapist to better support those who value their faith as a part of their healing process.
Jenna’s background working with girls and women at varying stages in their life has fostered her passion for their hearts. Jenna strives to refocus the therapeutic process back to the issues women struggle with on a daily basis; issues such as comparison, perfectionism, vulnerability and shame. Jenna believes in the therapeutic relationship, and the opportunity for healing and self discovery within the context of the relationship. Jenna desires to help each woman feel empowered, and have a deeper understanding of who she is, and the desires of her heart, so that she might live life abundantly. Personally, Jenna finds great joy in her family, friends, cooking (eating), working out, and most of all, spending time with her sweet husband and their Maltipoo Winnie.
